TheSin of the Parents!

“ ….And I will bring you to the Land I swore with Uplifted hand –  a land flowing with Milk and Honey, as a possession! ”

So, Moses thought: “ I will go over and see this strange sight –  why the bush does not burn up”

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and said:  “ I am the Lord, tell Pharaoh, King of Egypt –

“Let my people Go so that they may worship me in the wilderness”

Now, the Lord had said to Moses in Midian – “Go back to Egypt for all the men who wanted to kill you are dead!” So, Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand. At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him! But Zipporah, his wife took a flint knife – cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses feet with it: “Surely, you are a bridegroom of blood to me.” So, the Lord let him alone.

NOW, the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years! At the end of the 430 years to the very day all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt –  there were about 6k men or foot besides women and children. Many other people went up with them too. They plundered the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing. For the Egyptians urged them to hurry up and leave the country. For otherwise, they said: “We will all die!”

So, God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. By the day, the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

But then, they were terrified when they looked up and saw the Egyptians marching after them and overtook them and they cried out to the Lord – “ Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt – ‘Leave us alone, let us serve the Egyptians’. It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert”

But the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion! Then, the Egyptians said: “Lets get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them” But the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians and not one of them survived.

Then, after crossing the Red Sea, they were in the Desert of Shur and for 3 days, they travelled without finding water. Not even in Marah because it was bitter! So, the people grumbled against the Lord: “What are we to drink?” Then,  Moses threw a piece of wood into the water and the water became fit to drink!

There the Lord issued a Ruling and Instruction for them and put them to the Test!

He said: “If you listen carefully to the Lord you God and do what is right in his eyes. If you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians for I am the Lord –  who heals you!”

Then they came to Elim where there were 12 springs and 70 palm trees! And they camped there near the water!

The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin where they grumbled against God, saying – “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt. There we sat around pots of Meat and ate all the food we wanted but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death”

But God replied: ” At twilight you will eat Meat and in the morning you will be filled with bread(Manna)” Then, you will know that I am the Lord, your God.

And there was no water at Rephidim and they grumbled: “Give us water to drink, why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?” And they even tested the Lord, saying- ”Is the Lord among us or not?”

But God said to Moses- “ I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock and water will come out of it for the people to drink!”

After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai and camped there in front of the mountain! It was here that they said to Aaron- “Come, make us gods, who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt – we don’t know what has happened to him” when Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain. Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies. And he saw the Calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands – breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain. And burned the calf!  Then,  he stood at the entrance to the camp and said: “ Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” It was here that God gave them Israelites the law for a successful living here on Earth – the Ten Commandments,  and that was for a second time!

Then they set out from the Desert of Sinai and  travelled from place to place and at Kibroth Hattaavah, the Israelites started wailing and said: “If only we had meat to eat. We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost, also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna”

Then, the Israelites travelled to Hazeroth and it was here that Miriam and Aaron talked against Moses: “Hasn’t He, the Lord, also spoken through us? ” After that the people left Hazeroth and encamped in the Desert of Paran!

It was here that they rebel against God after exploring Canaan, saying-  The people are stronger and taller than we are, the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites. And wailed –  “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and Children will be taken as Plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to each other –  we should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.

Their refusal to believe in God in spite of all the Miraculous signs he have performed among them and treating him with contempt. God said – “Turn back tomorrow and set out toward the desert along the Route to the Red Sea(again!) ”  Now, 40 years instead of 3 days journey! And war is on its way!

God further said: “In this desert your bodies will fall –everyone of you 20 years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me! They will meet their end in this desert : here they will die” Of the 12 men who went to explore the land – only Joshua and Caleb survived!

Korah, Dathan and Abiram became insolent and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well –known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them- “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, everyone of them and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s Assembly?”

Then, the Lord said to Moses:  “Say to the Assembly –move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram” And then, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them along with their wives, children and little ones and all their possessions! They went down alive into the grave. The earth closed over them and they perished and were gone from the community! Then, fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men, who were offering the incense.

The next day the whole Israelite community accused Moses and Aaron – “ You have killed the Lord’s people” They said.

But the Lord said: “Get away from the Assembly so I can put an end to them at once” Then wrath has come out from the Lord – the plague has started! But then, when Aaron stood between the living and the dead, the Plague stopped but only after 14,700 people died from the plague!

Then, Israelites said to Moses: “We will die! We are lost, we are all lost! Anyone who even comes near the Tabernacle of the Lord will die. Are we all going to die?”

And in the Desert of Zin at a place called Kadesh, they quarrelled with Moses and said: “ If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord! Why did you bring the Lord’s community into the desert that we and our livestock should die here? Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!”

But then, the Lord said to Moses: “Take the staff and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together – “Speak to that Rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink”

And Moses said to them: “ Listen, you rebels – must we bring you water out of this rock?” Then Moses raised his arm and struck the Rock twice with his staff! Water gushed out and the community and their livestock drank.

But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as Holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them”

“Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross the Jordan. Therefore, you will see the land only from a distance: You will not enter the land I am giving to the people of Israel”

At that time, Moses pleaded with the Lord: “O sovereign Lord, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?”

“Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan – that fine hill country and Lebanon?”

“That is Enough” the Lord said. ”Do not speak to me anymore about this matter”  After you have seen it from the top of Pisgah, you too, will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was.

Moses parting words:

“When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers –to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you – a land with large flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig and vineyards and olive grooves you did not plant –then when you eat and are satisfied – be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Therefore, take care to follow the Commands, decrees and laws I give you today. So that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.

Those who hate him he will repay to their face by Destruction,

He will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him”

Moses was a 120 years old when he died there in Moab in the valley opposite Beth Peor, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. But to this day, no one knows where his grave is !

But then, why Moses failed to enter the Promise Land – a land flowing with Milk and Honey?

By the way, what does God have in mind when He said – Milk and Honey? While it is a dry desert and of course,  a barren land as we know it as of now?

And God Declares:  “For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways! You are of this world; I am not of this world: You are from below, I am from above.” But we know that in all things God works for the good of those who truly love him.

So then, what does Milk and Honey signify, according to the Almighty?

Milk………… ?

Honey ……..?

(I, too, am waiting for the Holy Ghost to reveal them to me…)

And yes, there are 3 reasons why Moses failed. Read the above paragraphs till you get the said 3 reasons! Good Luck!

But worse, did God ever thought of giving him up to the devil unseen and unheard by us in the heavenly realms in a spirit world? Perhaps, who knows, Moses must have been taken up alive!

For it is written:  Even the Archangel Michael when he was disputing with the Devil about the body of Moses did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but merely said: “The Lord Rebuke You!.”

But no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses whom the Lord knew face to face!

God Bless.
